Gamma Phi Beta carries out one philanthropic event during each semester. During the fall semester our chapter sponsors an event called Crescent Classic. It is a 3-on-3 basketball tournament with participants gathered from different living groups on campus. All Gamma Phi Beta members attend the event and interact with the participants by coaching teams, refereeing, and keeping score throughout the tournament.
During the spring semester we sponsor a silent auction during the University of Idaho’s Mom’s Weekend. Women in the house assemble baskets with themes such as Movie Night, Beauty/Spa and Scrapbooking. The baskets go on auction the Saturday morning of Mom’s Weekend. We accept and encourage all types of donations.
This year we are continuing our participation in the annual Day of Service. This event entails the promotion of interaction with young at-risk girls in the community. It is our mission to provide experiences and resources that build spiritual, mental, and social resiliency in girls.
Our chapter donates all the proceeds made from our philanthropies to Camp Sweyolakan of Camp Fire USA in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Camp Fire USA was founded to build caring, confident youth and future leaders. As a chapter we take pride in our contribution to fund children’s camp experiences at Sweyolakan to help them learn and develop skills necessary to live strong, healthy, and successful lives. |
